Administration
Cindy DeAngelis is the Principal of Central College Christian School K-5. She has a BS.Ed in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Miami University. Cindy added her grades 1 - 8 teaching license and Masters Degree in Administration as her career progressed. Her 24 years in elementary education included 8 as a speech and language therapist and 16 as a teacher in grades 1 and 2. The last 13 years of her career were spent in administration, opening 2 new buildings for Olentangy as an assistant principal (4 years) and principal (9 years). Following her retirement, Cindy worked as an adjunct professor and student teaching supervisor for Capital University, Literacy Coordinator for Marion City Schools, and designed and delivered data driven professional development for Buckeye Valley Local Schools. Cindy was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to administration at Central College Christian School and lead the wonderful school that her grandchildren attend.
Howard Baum – EdChoice Administrator
Howard earned both his B.S. and M.A. from The Ohio State University. He served as an elementary teacher and principal for 35 years and later worked
with adults with developmental disabilities. Now at CCCS, he feels called to serve children once again in his home church.
He enjoys woodworking and DIY home projects.
Kindergarten
Bethany Storts – Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Storts has a Bachelor's in Early Education and is licensed PreK–3. After starting her career teaching 4th/5th grade, she transitioned to kindergarten and has found her passion. A CCCS alum, she treasures teaching where her own education began. Bethany enjoys reading, DIY projects, time with her family and dogs, and participating in school events—especially chapel.
Amie Whalen – Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Whalen earned a BSE and holds PreK–3 licensure in both general and intervention education. With several years in intervention roles, she now shares her passion for faith and teaching in her third year at CCCS. Deeply connected to the school through her family's legacy, Amie loves spending time with her husband and sons, shopping, coffee, the zoo, and her pets.
Ashley O'Brien – Kindergarten Aide Mrs. O'Brien brings experience from working in preschools and a heart for serving young learners. A proud CCCS alum (1999–2003), she is excited to return and share the love of Jesus with the next generation. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, William, and their two dogs, Dash and Daisy. She also loves to travel.
Kindergarten Aid William O'Brien has always enjoyed working with kids through VBS, Children’s Church, and Summer Camps! He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and relocated to Ohio a few years ago. William resides with his wife, Ashley and their dog, Copper, in Westerville. When he’s not at school, He enjoys spending time with his family and plays the keyboard and sings on his church’s worship team.
Karen McGreevey – Kindergarten Teacher Assistant Karen has a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Higher Education Administration. Her background includes middle school teaching, college administration, and serving on a school board. She values investing in young children’s growth and development. Karen enjoys daily walks with her dog, time with her family, and cheering for the Buckeyes.
Ashley Noble – Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Noble earned her Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University and brings experience as a childcare director, teacher, and administrative assistant. She loves the kind and faith-filled environment at CCCS, where she can share God’s love through education. She enjoys time with her two boys, visiting the Columbus Zoo, and serving in her church.
Megan Butler – Kindergarten Aide Mrs. Butler holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with licensure in PreK–3. She has years of experience with Head Start and special needs preschool programs. She loves the genuine care at CCCS and hearing God’s love in chapel. In her free time, she enjoys arts and crafts, exploring new places, and time with her dog, Junie B.
Elementary
Michelle Hickok – First Grade Teacher Michelle holds a B.A. and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with endorsements in early childhood and reading. Her experience includes teaching kindergarten and first grade, and serving as a reading specialist. She finds great joy in supporting both academic and faith growth in her students. Michelle enjoys reading, hiking, kayaking, and family time.
Jen Kovach – 2nd Grade Teacher Mrs. Kovach has an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and a BA in Early Childhood Education. A certified educator since 2003, she has taught across multiple states and held roles from teacher to success coach. She chose CCCS to help students grow in faith and values. She lives in Westerville with her husband and two daughters, enjoys serving at her church, and loves Lake Erie, gardening, and walking her dog, Scout.
Christine Jajack – 3rd Grade Teacher Mrs. Jajack holds a Bachelor's in Education (PK-3) and a Master's in Reading, along with a K-12 Reading Endorsement. She has been a dedicated teacher at CCCS since 2007. She loves the school’s Christian atmosphere and close-knit community. Christine enjoys reading, traveling, walking, and spending time with loved ones.
Khadine Byers – Fifth Grade Teacher Khadine holds a Bachelor of Science and a Professional Elementary License. Her diverse experience spans first through fifth grade across multiple schools, with 14 years at CCCS. She values the deep commitment to both academics and faith found at CCCS. Khadine enjoys gardening, sports, baking, and time with family.
Andrew Shreve – 4th Grade Teacher Mr. Shreve holds a Bachelor's in Education with licensure in Early Childhood and as an Intervention Specialist. Before joining CCCS, he worked as an Intervention Specialist with the ESC. He was drawn to CCCS for a new challenge and the chance to teach in an elementary classroom. In his free time, Mr. Shreve enjoys reading, sports (as an umpire and football referee), puzzles, trivia, and music.
Sarah Walls – Fourth Grade Teacher Sarah has degrees in Child Development and Early Childhood Education and has worked in preschool and elementary classrooms for over a decade. She loves being part of the faith-filled, supportive community at CCCS. In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
Natalie Loeffler – 2nd Grade Teacher Mrs. Loeffler holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Professional Teaching License. With years of experience as a substitute teacher across NJ, PA, and OH, and time spent as a reading and math tutor, she’s now in her third year teaching 2nd grade at CCCS. She loves teaching in a place where she can share God’s love and help students grow in faith. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Emily Kauffman - 3rd Grade Teacher Emily Kauffman holds a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Science and a 5-Year Multi-Age (P–12) substitute teaching license. Before joining CCCS, she taught at STARBASE on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Emily loves helping students grow in a Christ-centered environment and especially enjoys chapel each week. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, gaming, and spending time with her dogs, friends, and family.
Intervention
ntervention Specialist Heather Thorward graduated from Malone University in 2007. She began at CCCS in 2015. She has her state license in Early Childhood Education, and Special education with a reading endorsement. Prior to working at CCCS, she taught a combined classroom of first and second graders at Worthington Adventist Academy. She has also been an Orton-Gillingham Tutor at Marburn Academy. She is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Reading Science from the University of Mount St. Joseph. She enjoys a good book, hanging out with friends, and the color purple.
Laura Thornton – Intervention Specialist Laura holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership along with multiple licenses in education and administration. She has 29 years of experience working with students from preschool through third grade. She believes in planting seeds of growth and faith in every child. Laura enjoys traveling, cooking, and watching her sons play soccer.
Paraprofessional Misha Banks came to Central College Christian School after previously working as a Behavioral Specialist at St. Vincent Family Center and Sonshine Christian Academy. She worked with children ages ranging from three to 13 years old, to help with various behavioral disabilities. Banks also attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University and received a BA in Psychology.
Specialists
Mackenzie Siens – 1st–5th Grade Science Teacher Mackenzie holds a Bachelor's in Early and Middle Childhood Studies (OSU) and a Master's in Education (MVNU). She previously served as an educator for COSI On Wheels and as a camp counselor for 10 years. She loves sharing the wonders of science while also celebrating God's creation. Mackenzie enjoys outdoor adventures, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
K-5 Music Teacher Rachael Miser received her BME from Mount Union College where she was a member of the marching and concert bands, orchestra, percussion and jazz ensembles, and choir. She holds a MA from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, and a PhD from the University of Dayton, OH. As a member of the military community, Rachael homeschooled her two grown children while traveling around the world as part of the Army family. She has taught music in various locations in Ohio, Germany, Tennessee, and Missouri.
K-5 Librarian and Extended Care specialist Mary Walsh oversees multiple roles at Central College Christian School, including the day-to-day duties within the Library and its extensive catalog of books and reference material used within the school curriculum.
K-5 Art Teacher Ellen Hefner-Phillips holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Ohio State University. She has happily been “playing” art with the students of CCCS since 2000. When she is not slopping paint in the art room, Mrs. Phillips can be found hanging with her grandsons, practicing yoga, or enjoying a well written book.
Tim Barker – Muscles Preschool Academy Gym Mr. Barker holds a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Physical Education, with K–12 PE licensure. His diverse experience includes roles as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and in missions and special needs. He values seeing God's grace in action at CCCS. He enjoys anything involving God, family, friends, and sports.
Kyra Duffie – Spanish Teacher Kyra holds a B.A. in Spanish and is licensed to teach PK–12. She has taught Spanish and English in several schools and cherishes CCCS’s Christ-centered community. She enjoys gardening, hiking, rock climbing, crafting, and sewing.
Support Staff
Joyce Storts – Office Manager Mrs. Storts earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University and worked for 10 years at Gahanna Christian. With a personal connection to CCCS through her daughters, she is passionate about the school community. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her dogs.
Shanna Banks - Receptionist Shanna Banks serves as the welcoming face of CCCS, creating a positive first impression for students, families, and staff alike. Although her professional background is not in education, she brings a heart for service and a love for the school community. Shanna is grateful to work alongside such a pleasant and dedicated staff. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with the Lord, reading, listening to music, and expressing her creativity through cake art.
Phil Hughey - Technology Support Phil Hughey brings a wealth of experience to his role in Technology Support at CCCS. With 17 years in various roles within the telecommunications industry and over a decade in educational technology, he is committed to helping the school community thrive in a digital age. Phil is deeply moved by the spirit of service and ministry that defines CCCS and feels blessed to be part of such a mission-driven team. In his free time, he enjoys walks and conversations with his wife, caring for their cats and plants, and working on mechanical and woodworking projects in his shop.
